cover.jpgI’ll be taking a hiatus from blogging for the rest of the month, as I finish off a few projects and gear up for a busy fall and winter.

If you’re curious about what’s in the works, and why I’ve been squirreled away in the boiler room of Pink, Inc., for much of the last six months, you can find a hint here.

Or here. Or here. Or even here.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

I am eagerly awaiting this book. As a band director who is one of the few touting the non-competitive merits of music education, I need all the help I can get…

  2. Ed Brenegar says:

    Congratulations Dan.

As one who already believes in intrinsic rewards over extrinsic, I look forward to reading the book.

It is at the heart of living a life of thanks.

  3. Jonathan Joyce says:

Looking forward to the book Dan. I’ve enjoyed/learned from your past books – Bunko and Free Agent Nation. Recently heard you will be the keynote speaker at the P&G PRIDE symposium in mid-October. Hopefully, will get a chance to meet you in person.

New book eh? What’s in it for me? I just don’t feel like starting another book. Hey, how about you pay me to read it?

  6. woooohoooo Dan! You finished it. If your TED Global 2009 talk was any indication of what’s to come – I can’t wait to read it.

  7. Julie Surycz says:

Wonderful news Dan – I am really looking forward to reading it!

  8. Steve says:

Why December – If you are taking the rest of the month off. Please urge your publisher to get it out to us in September.

Sorry, I must be among those who can’t wait!

  9. William McIntire says:

    Dan,

Loved your book “A Whole New Mind.” I’m buying another book for my son who is definitely right brained. I had two experience with making a living during my life. Half of the time I was a “knowledge worker” and left brained and the other time when I had my business I was of the right brained creator type. I made far more money with the creative side than I ever did with all of the “tollbooth” accomplishments.

Hope I get a chace to see you sometime on the lecture circuit. You organize your material in a manner that makes your book an easy read.

    Good continued luck!

I enjoyed the video of your talk at TED; can’t wait for the book.

My reaction to your TED talk is that I wish the upper mgmt of the company I work for would hire you as a consultant.

I work for a large bank and they have learned the wrong lessons from the financial crisis: to do more micromanagement, more top down control, etc. They do offer less carrots, but more sticks.

  11. Congratulations! I loved the TED talk and I can hardly wait for the book to come out. I really hope it makes a difference in creating more psychologically healthy work environments.

  12. Bjorn says:

Brilliant! Looking forward to it. Please consider an unabridged audio version!!

The TED talk was terrific and proved once again that you’ve hit the target with the new big three (Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose)…can’t wait for the book to tell about the last two.

  14. Eddie Garcia says:

Great TED Talk! Wow…I’m super excited about the news. I hope you make a stop in California on your book tour. I’ll be first in line.

    Eddie

  15. Peggy says:

Congratulatons Dan! I can’t wait to read this (I LOVED “A Whole New Mind”)

  16. Meri Walker says:

Thanks so much for stopping by my Posterous, Dan! I’m so crazy about your thinking (as you read there) and am really looking forward to reading this next book. Guessing that you’ve hooked up at some point with Barbara Fredrickson’s work on positive emotion (Broaden and Build Theory)… and just delighted that you’re coming out with your perspective on motivation. Namaste.

Some day I hope to shake your hand in person. You’ve opened so many doors of mind (and new friendships) for me.

  17. Jerilyn Wagner says:

    Dan –

For someone who has chosen not to follow the “lawyerly” path – you have a propensity for making a compelling case! Be it the rise of free agency, the cultivation/sustanence of the six senses, debunking old “career rules and applying millenium practices, or now, celebration of the untapped potential through recognition of the importance of employee autonomy, mastery and purpose – you have proven your point!A TED talk par excellence!! Can’t wait for the book’s release. Thanks for the eloquent respresentation of the heart and soul of those out to work!
