A human resources study released today finds that 42% of Americans will spend part of the Labor Day holiday working. Why? Some people–nurses, police officers, and others–must be on the job. But for many others the reasons are different. “It’s not because of the boss,” says one of the study’s authors. “It is largely because of intrinsic motivation.”
