For most of us, the answer is never.

For Gillian McCarthy of Los Angeles, the answer is last Thursday.

Back in 2001, McCarthy bought a green Honda Civic Ex from a local dealership. She’s taken good care of it — but perhaps not good enough. So last week, in the mail, she received this:

Emotionally intelligent car care? Literary anthropomorphic marketing? Sniff, sniff. I smell a meme.

Well, that’s one way to get your audience’s attention. Clever and funny!

Whenever it’s time to change the oil in my car, I get a postcard from Monro Muffler/Brake. It’s a cute picture of a young baby with the caption “Would you forget to change me?”
On the other side of the postcard is a discount to come in for my next oil change. It works for me!

    Dan, (Happy 4th of July!)

That poem reminds me of the state many organizations find themself in. Note this comment I received from an employee after I delivered a keynote yesterday in Washington, DC on the topic of “Waiting Rooms or Sports Bars, Where is Your Org Sitting?”

“Thank you for your excellent, motivating presentation. I wish we had more time. I honestly believe the work place would be a much nicer one if you could tap into the decision-makers, most of the time I feel they are the ones who keep things stagnant as much as they say they want to hear ideas they often afraid and reluctant to embrace change. There is nothing new or exciting anymore. It’s a stale party.”

Just like the Honda Civic, people need revitalization in order to Thrive! The Right-Brainers are getting restless…..!

    Cheers
