Factoid of the day: Election special
Over at The Page — which, imho, is the single best source for election news — Mark Halperin asks an intriguing trivia question:
“When was the last U.S. presidential election the Republican party won without a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket?”

looking forward for more information about this. thanks for sharing. Eugene
You have to go back to ’48 to find a Republican ticket (win or lose) that did not include Nixon, Bush, Dole or an AZ senator.
Halperin’s considered to be a bit of a hack though, no?
@ phil — indeed. the R’s do seem to like name brands.
@ jeffrey — i like halperin. he’s a smart guy and a very astute political observer. i’m not obsessive about following politics — but whenever i feel the itch, the page scratches it.
