Webster’s New World Dictionary is choosing itsĀ word of the yearĀ for 2008. TheĀ final five candidatesĀ are:

Just go to theĀ online ballotĀ to cast your vote. But, IMHO, the choice is easy. I’d never heard of two of these words and I’ve never used two others. But one of these words I’ve deployed many times — and I suspect it’s going to remain in the lexicon around far longer than, say, selective cybernasia sickness.Ā Ā

    If there is a category for most overused word, I vote for “initiative.” Couple that with “start-up” and we have god-awful wordiness…
