I wonder how much this contributes to the culture in some workplaces of “well, it’s lousy but at least we’re all in it together”. I’ve worked places were the overriding morale was negative and depressing, yet people stayed, as if afraid to change the status quo. Ironic that the status quo was so unfulfilling…
