  • Quote of the day: Now’s the time

“In periods of economic turmoil, people are hungry and work cheap, and entrenched companies often concentrate on in-house cost-cutting instead of exploring new markets, which can explode with the next turn of the business cycle.”

Dan – this is provocative. I like it.

Instead of laying people off, companies and workers should compromise on lower payroll costs in exchange for profit-sharing from new business that results from seeds planted during the downturn.

Keeping staff on the payroll during slower times, frees time to work on a number of things that get shoved to the side when business is booming.

Very interesting indeed. There is another quote that I have held strong too that goes like this: “Overcome resource constraints by seeking out innovations.”

Yes, interesting. Unfortunately, innovation seems to be a four letter word. Could it be a big part of the reason why the car industry is doing so well in this country? Hmmm…
