If a place that looks like this has a line, you know the food will be good. But when you discover that the burritos cost just $4 and you have to eat them in a parking lot, you know the food will be really good. And it was. (2056 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles)

Looks good! Think I’ll give it a try next time I am in Los Feliz!

  2. Thanks Dan! I will keep this on my list next time I am in LA. How did you find this place?

  3. Roy says:

We have a similar place in our smallish Missouri town. The burritos are incredible and the prices are ridiculously low.

@koren — The person taking me around LA suggested it. She is a wise woman.

Local food is the way to go. I go to the upper peninsula of Michigan a few times a year. There are numerous small towns with small town diners. Rule of thumb: count the local license plates in the parking lots. The place with the most local traffic is where you should eat. Special shout out to the West Bay Diner in Grand Marais and Bridge View Diner in Mackinac City.

  7. I think every city has these hidden gems. In Toronto Canada it is Burrito Boyz, located behind my office buildingin a basement grotto on Peter Street just North of the SkyDome (aka Rogers Centre). At lunch and after clubbing hours, this 200 sqft anomaly must serve up thousands of people who could only dream of a parking lot to dine in! http://www.burritoboyz.ca/
